I STARTED CROSSFITTING BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO RELEASE STRESS. I WAS 43 YEARS OLD, HAD A LOT HAPPENING IN MY PERSONAL LIFE AND BECAUSE OF THAT STRESS I WAS THE HEAVIEST I HAD EVER BEEN, 264 LBS. I WAS ALSO DESPERATELY TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO MOTIVATE MY WIFE WHO HAD RECENTLY SUFFERED A STROKE.

I DON’T REMEMBER EXACTLY HOW I FOUND CROSSFIT.  I THINK I WAS SEARCHING YOUTUBE FOR EXERCISE PROGRAMS.  I USED TO BE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE SO I NEW ABOUT ALL THE RUN OF THE MILL PROGRAMS.  I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT.  I SAW A VIDEO TITLED “WHAT IS CROSSFIT”.  AFTER WATCHING IT, I IMMEDIATELY KNEW THIS WAS FOR ME.

AFTER A WEEK AT CROSSFIT HAMMOND I WAS A BELIEVER.  THE COACHES PUSHED ME, TO PUSH MY MIND AND BODY TO THE LIMIT.  UP TILL THEN, I HAD NEVER DONE ANYTHING SO TOUGH.  I BEGAN EATING IN THE ZONE AND OVER THE NEXT 5 MONTHS I LOST APPROXIMATELY 40 LBS AND 6 WASTE SIZES.  I’M GETTING STRONGER AND MY BACK DOESN’T HURT ANYMORE.  I AM A TRUE BELIEVER.  AS FOR MY WIFE, SHE IS BACK IN PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WILL BE SOON STARTING HER OWN EXERCISE PROGRAM.  MAYBE EVEN “CROSSFIT”.
